"The most important fact about the subject of education is that there is no such thing. Education is not a subject and it does not deal in subjects. It is instead the transfer of a way of life.” ~G.K. Chesterton
Vision & Purpose Our vision is to provide Catholic fellowship opportunities to homeschool families as we pursue the Good, the True, and the Beautiful together. We serve families in Parker and the surrounding communities (Castle Rock, Elizabeth, Lone Tree, Centennial, SE Aurora and Highlands Ranch). We look to the Holy Family as our model of perfect virtue as we build up our domestic churches.
We meet weekly to provide enrichment classes to our children aged Preschool to High School. Additionally, we provide several other events and activities throughout the year to build the Catholic homeschool community and support parents.
History Our group started as a small preschool co-op in our homes in 2015 in Parker, CO. We operated at St. Francis of Assisi in Castle Rock from 2017 - 2023. In Fall of 2023, we moved to Ave Maria in Parker, finding it a more central location for our families. Twenty-five families with a total of 72 students participated in the 2023-2024 academic year.
Formerly called Douglas County Catholic Home Educators (DCCHE), we recognized that our group consistently serves families from our very close neighboring counties (Elbert and Arapahoe) and likewise in our neighboring diocese (Archdiocese of Denver). Hence, we decided to change our name to Holy Family Homeschool Community and dedicate our efforts to Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. Douglas County Catholic Home Educators is still the name of our local online forum.
"Nothing truly can be more salutary or efficacious for Christian families to mediate upon than the example of this Holy family, which embraces the perfection and completeness of all domestic virtues." ~Pope Leo XIII
